Manchester United will reportedly battle Arsenal, Tottenham and Juventus for the signature of Atletico Madrid defender Jose Gimenez.

TransferMarketWeb claims that Premier League trio are interested in the Uruguay international, who could be set to leave Atleti after five seasons.

It is believed that Los Colchoneros might put him up for sale for a fee of around €55million.

However, it was claimed last month that Atletico boss Diego Simeone would not sanction the sale of Gimenez unless a replacement was found.

El Gol Digital reported that Simeone was eyeing Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny as a possible counterpart, with the Gunners most interested out of the English sides.

Earlier in the season, Gimenez revealed that he has no plans to leave, claiming: “I have a contract until 2020. I’m not thinking of leaving Atletico Madrid because I feel very connected with this club.”

Reports also suggested that Liverpool had sent scouts to watch Gimenez.

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is ready to break the bank to land a Real Madrid ace this summer, according to a report.

Spanish publication Don Balon claims that the Portuguese boss is prepared to spend up to €200million to sign Marco Asensio.

The report states that even ex-United star Cristiano Ronaldo is aware that a bid for Asensio could be arriving from his former club.

The player is under contract at the Bernabeu until 2023, however recent reports have suggested that the 22-year-old could seek pastures new amid concerns over his playing time next season.

Real Madrid have been linked with big money moves for forwards like Mo Salah, Neymar, Eden Hazard and Robert Lewandowski, all of which could limit Asensio’s opportunities.

The Spain international has scored 10 goals and provided four assists, despite seeing his progress at the Bernabeu stall a little under Zinedine Zidane this season.

It was even reported last week that United’s Premier League rivals Chelsea had seen a £132m bid rejected for Asensio.
